• An Essex truck driver whose vehicle killed three people in their car as it crawled slowly along the M25 hard shoulder has been fined £500 and given seven penalty points.
The jury of Lorretta Campbell's five-day trial at Aylesbury Crown Court found the 24-year-old guilty of careless driving after she collided with the back of the victims' Ford Sierra on a Buckingham stretch of the motorway.
However they dismissed the more serious charge of dangerous driving, even though the Crown Prosecution Service had alleged that Campbell had taken insufficient rest before the accident and had fallen asleep at the wheel.
