It wasn't all about the big three, though. Dutch trailer company Pacton was keen to display a new prototype version of its Flex container chassis. While the chassis is nothing new, its independent wheel suspension does make it stand out from the crowd.
Pacton's reasoning behind this type of trailer set-up is to give it more stability, a higher payload, lower empty weight and less tyre wear. MD Rik Prank claims that the trailer gives a weight saving of around 150kg.
The suspension arm is supplied by ZF and the wheel suspension itself is outsourced from German axle manufacturer Gigant. Pacton expects to have a few dozen of these trailers on the road by next year, and is looking to start full scale production by 2010.
