Driver competition—an event it's holding in conjunction with the European Commission to help make roads safer.
Any professional HGV driver under the age of 30 is eligible to enter the competition, and the winner will be the person who shows they are the best at driving a truck/trailer combination in the safest and most economical way.
Heats for the UK leg of the competition wit be held in August at Millbrook Proving Centre in Bedfordshire, with the final at the end of that month. The winner will take on other European finalists for the title in September, which wit be held at Scania's headquarters in Sweden.
The prize for Europe's best young truck driver is a trip to Brazil for the Rio Carnival, road train driving in the jungle and a visit to Scania's factory in Sao Paulo. Runners up will win a VIP day at a Formula One Grand Prix and a weekend opportunity to experience driving a Fl car.
Entrants must have a clean and valid C+E licence, be under 30 on 30 August 2003, and be working full time as an HGV driver. The closing date is 31 May. Entry forms are available at www.scania.co.uk, from Scania dealers or from the Scania stand at Truckfest.
