One recent example, a Daf XF95 tractive unit, had over 213,000 of goodies fitted, including a refrigerator, DVD player with six-disc multichanger, satellite navigation unit, CB radio and a microwave. It had air horns and a very sophisticated alarm plus a flat-screen TV set into the lefthand bunk wall. "With its aerial attached to the back of the cab, its reception of Channel 5 was the best I've ever seen!" says sales manager Simon Hall. Kel-Berg finished it off with top and bottom 10-spot lighting bars, a bottom spoiler and chequer-plated chassis.
They may seem like expensive adornments and, while most have a practical value, the others simply boost in-cab comfort levels to a 'club' standard that regular fleet drivers can only dream about.
