• Wabco and Fichtel & Sachs have signed a deal for the joint development of electronic systems to control air suspension and dampers.
Wabco already makes electrically controlled air suspension (ECAS) while Fichte! & Sachs markets electronically adjustable shock absorbers.
The companies have already co-operated to produce the three-setting semi-active suspension system used on the MAN F2000. Wabco explains that it makes no sense for it to produce an ECU (electronic control unit) for tie air suspension while Fichte] produces another for the shock absorbers.
In joining forces Wabco and Fichte! & Sachs aim to offer manufacturers a complete suspension system.
There is also the possibility of refining the system to give finer adjustment than the three settings will allow.
