Steel framework is used in the con' struction—this is 3 in. by 1.25 in. . mild steel. top-hat-section material. Vertical side frames are spaced to coincide with the pierced-through cross-members of the Highway chassis frame at 2 ft. centres. They are notched and riveted at each joint, providing a high degree of integral strength.
All framework is heavily sheradized to eliminate rusting. An extruded alloy cantrail is used incorporating a J-section gutter and the roof is panelled in 18 s.w.g. light-alloy sheet. Translucent roof panels are optional extras. Two types of sheeting arc available for the side and front panels of the body, the standard being 18 s.w.g. alloy sheeting as used in the roof. At extra cost Alclad " Transform " 18 s.w.g. ribbed sheeting can be specified.
Interior finish can be in sheradized
steel slatting set at 6 in. centres or, at no extra cost, a plywood lining can be fitted. Any type of rear closure can be specified, again at no extra cost, and addition entries into the body can be arranged as required. Braking of the semi-trailer is by 15.25 in. by Sin. Girling units and operation cart be by any desired system. Statutory lighting and flashers are standard equipment. • Standard flooring is of 1 in, nominal thickness tongued and grooved Paranapine laid longitudinally. At extra cost a 0-75 in. waterproof, resin-bonded plywood floor is available. The semi-trailer vans are available in all lengths and capacities on either single or tandem axle chassis. The 26-ft.-long unit described costs in standard form £1,625 retail, and the range will be available through the Highway distributor organization as well as direct from the bodybuilder.
