• AWD has delivered a large fleet of 38-tonne tankers to the British armed forces in the Gulf.
Ministry of Defence restrictions mean that the size of the order cannot be revealed, but AWD says 30 of its staff have spent the past 12 weeks, including evenings, weekends and holidays, completing the contract. '1'lle trucks, which are now in service in Saudi Arabia, are MTM 55 Multidrive 8x6s, with bodies and pumping equipment supplied by NEIThompson Tankers of Wolverhampton.
They have 321kW (425hp) Caterpillar engines and a 20tonne payload. These models are usually plated at 53 tonnes for off-road construction work.
