• London Buses is investing nearly ,2900,000 on centre-door safety mechanisms following seven serious accidents involving closing doors last year.
Nearly 3,000 of LB's 5,000strong PSV fleet will be fitted with the device by April 1993, when the law will demand that such equipment is fitted to centre-exit-doored buses built since April 1980.
