• Belfast-based Dragon Shipping has had the duration of its licence cut to expire in December after a report on one of its trailers — stamped "neglect" — brought it before South Wales LA John Mervyn Pugh.
The firm has a licence for six vehicles and 12 trailers, with four vehicles and 13 trailers to he acquired. It has an operating*centre in Swansea.
The company's Kenneth McLelland said it had invested £lin at Swansea, running a twice-weeky service by sea to Belfast.
The firm now had a contractmaintenance deal with a Volvo main dealer. he added. The trailers were on a Northern Ireland licence and Dragon had been running trucks for 25 years without problems.
Mervyn Pugh said vehicles licensed in South Wales were under his control and the company did not appear to be aware of this until advised by a vehicle examiner.
