• Bromley Council has completed its consultation of the 27 London boroughs not party to its campaign to revoke the London Lorry Ban.
Predictably most boroughs have objected to Bromley's plan as they belong to the London Boroughs Transport Scheme which administers the ban. They fear that six boroughs dropping out would make the scheme "piecemeal". Other major objections centre on road-signing.
However, Bromley believes it can satisfy some of the objections. "As long as the signing is satisfactory, we don't think it will affect other boroughs," says Bromley's assistant traffic engineer Dave Martin. Bromley is acting for Bexley, Croydon, Havering, Redbridge and Wandsworth. Its proposals were delayed after Merton was won by Labour last May and switched its support to the LBTS.
