• Birmingham-bound truck drivers using the new M40 from the Channel ports face a 320km (199 mile) journey without service stations, warns the Freight Transport Association.
Congestion on the route could mean that drivers will be forced to break drivers' hours laws or risk running out of fuel, unless they leave the motorway, says the FTA. The most direct route has no driver facilities until Frankley services.
