• Moving up and down the box is done with a stumpy gearstick which has a small button on the right and a yellow button at the front.
From a standing start 2L is set as the take-off gear.
To change gear simply nudge the stick forward to move up a gear with your foot staying on the accelerator to maintain momentum. To split the gear press the button on the right as you move it forward or back.
When slowing down or coming to a
halt the system allows the truck to coast in without changing, reverting to 2L when the vehi cle comes to a halt.
If the lights change or the traffic starts to move before you grind to a halt simply move the gear stick to the left and it will select the correct gear for peak torque. It all saves a lot of gear changing.
If the truck starts to labour heading uphill press the button on the right and knock the gear stick to the left— the box will automatically select the peak power gear for the climb.
Activate the
exhaust brake, press the button on the right and knock the stick left and the box will select the gear that offers optimum retardation. Use the yellow button at the front of the stick and nudge the stick back for reverse or forward for crawler.
Gear actuation goes through a three-stage process: slip-mode is
from ThOrpm to about 850rpm, where it enters intermediate before passing through 1,000rpm to fully engaged.
