SOUTH WALES haulage and plant-hire firm Harkins Crushing has gone into administration.
The company, which is understood to have carried out work for Tarmac, Cem ex and Hansons, called in accountants from MB Insolvency on 1 July. It had entered into a corporate voluntary arrangement in March in order to allow it to avoid bankruptcy and repay its debts.
Abbreviated accounts filed at Companies House for the period ending 31 March 2007 show that the Pontyclun-based business had fixed assets worth £488,000, a large increase from the previous year when it only had £24.000. The company ran eight-wheel tippers and 360degree excavators.
Tarmac says it wouldn't comment on Harkins' financial state. Cemex was unable to respond as CM went to press. Administrator Mark Bowen did not return CM'S calls.
