HILLINGDON is to be the first London local authority to run its own bus service.
The service will be launched in the autumn following talks between the council, London Transport and London County Bus services in a bid to improve services in the north of the borough.
LT will man, maintain and buy the buses as operating agents for Hillingdon who will select service frequencies and finance the scheme.
The buses are to be L-type BL Bristol LH single deckers which will be finished in Hillingdon local service livery.
Among the extra equipment on the buses will be a clock, visible to both driver and passengers.
An inaugural run was completed on Monday to introduce the service to the Press and members of the council.
