PRODUCTION of Transit vans and Ford heavy vehicles was halted earlier this week when 3,150 men were laid off at the Southampton and Langley plants as a result of a strike at the Dagenham plant.
The commercial vehicle workers will be among nearly 11,000 Ford workers made idle by the unofficial strike of 800 workers at Dagenham who are on strike after a workmate was sacked for incorrectly operating a machine.
By the end of last week the Southampton plant producing Transit vans had lost production of 170 vehicles, and the Langley plant in Buckinghamshire had lost 70 heavy vehicles.
