• A new waste giant was created last week when ARC more than doubled its waste-carrying fleet through the purchase of Econowaste. Construction group Tarmac finally sold Econowaste, complete with 18 landfill sites and nearly 60 CVs for 1.44m. This puts ARC in the top three UK waste companies.
By the end of August Econowaste's Scotwaste and Knottingley Skip Business will be incorporated into ARC's Greenways Landfill and "good systems of management accounting" will be put in place, says Greenways managing director Nigel Sandy. Greenways currently operates 43 commercial vehicles from Kent.
