RICHARD TURNER, chief executive of the Freight Transport Association, has been appointed as a board member for the Commission for Integrated Transport (MT).
CfIT is an independent body which advises the government on integrated transport policy such as the impact of technology and policy issues spanning departmental boundaries such as health and the environment.
It also compares UK transport policy with that of other countries. Transport Secretary Alistair Darling has also appointed David Leede, MD of First Group, as CfIT's new vice-chair; Garrett Emmerson, head of transportation at Buckinghamshire County
Council, becomes a board member. David Begg will continue to chair the Commission.
All three appointments will begin on 1 July and will run for three years.
