AW JENKINSON FOREST Products and Eddie Stobart have been awarded a three-year distribution deal, worth 25m, with Carlisle, Cumbria-based BSW Timber.
The win follows Stobart Group and AW Jenkinson joining forces in March, to source and distribute supplies of biomass fuel, as well as Eddie Stobart being awarded a 10-year transportation contract with the firm.
The firms will transport finished sawn products from BSW S Cargo, Carlisle sawmill across the UK. The work was previously done by F Brown (Carlisle). which shut its haulage arm in April (CM 25 March).
The new deal adds to AW Jenkinson's existing partnership with BSW. Brian Blenkharn, transport manager for AW Jenkinson, tells CM: "We have had a long relationship with BSW, but it was
primarily for hauling bulk primary materials, such as wood chippings and sawdust."
William Stobart, chief operating officer at Stobart Group, adds: 'Our national network will ensure BSW's haulage needs are delivered to the highest possible standards, and we're confident that its expectations will be exceeded."
