The key to this test is what the vehicle represents more than what it is capable of doing. This is a Euro-4 truck, it’s just over three years old, has known mileage and service history, and is very clean.
This is the sort of truck operators want from the used market, and trade wishes it had in volume on its forecourt. Unfortunately for the operator, trucks matching this description are also thin on the ground. Its price tag of £42,500 (plus VAT), higher than CAP’s evaluation, reflect that the used truck market belongs to the seller.
Also, the fact remains that it’s a sellers’ market and if you want it you have to be willing to pay for it, or the chances are someone else will, and you’ll be left scrapping it out for the next one.

The Long Distance cab lacks the thrills and spills of the Megaspace, but with one bunk the owner, or next driver, has a blank canvas on which to stamp their mark.
As the year wears on, the likes of this truck will become rarer on the open market, and operators will be forced back to the manufacturers for newer trucks, so if you are in the market for a used truck a CM would have no problem recommending AY57 DYU.
