0 am tempted to award this picture of the BP Under Seventeens Car Club an accolade for the most people ever gathered in one picture under the Hawk's roof. The club, I am told, gives youngsters who are too young to pass their test the chance to learn to drive trucks or cars in conditions of strict supervision providing a) they can reach the pedals and b) they can see through the windscreen. For this recent outing, BP provided a 38-tonne tanker and ERE an Olympic EC tractor unit. The young roustabouts also have the chance to spin out of control in skid training cars and learn the secrets of unmarked police cars fitted with (Time busting technology. Sounds like splendid fun to me in my day the nearest we got was a sixpenny spin on the dodgems on rain-sodden Brighton pier. For more information on the club send an SAE to Eileen Simpkin, 51 Deerhurst Chase, Bickmacre, Chelmsford, Essex, GE 4XG marked BP Under Seventeens Car Club.
