A SOUTH WALES haulage firm formed specifically to take over part of the business of another operator has been granted a new international licence.
MA Rees & Sons (UK) made its licence bid for 20 trucks and 40 trailers at a Cardiff public inquiry following the curtailment of a licence in the name of MA Rees in April.
However, Welsh Traffic Commissioner David Dixon imposed a number of conditions, including an undertaking that Mark Anthony Rees would have no involvement in the firm as a shareholder, director, employee or subcontractor.
The TC wanted the MA Rees licence to be terminated because he did not feel it would be right for the two licences to be active at the same time.
Both companies were called to public inquiry, along with SD Rees &Son, which was seeking a licence for an additional 20 vehicles and 40 trailers based at Brynmenin in Bridgend.
Confirming the grant or the licence to MA Rees (UK), the TC revoked the existing MA Rees licence and disqualified Mark Anthony Rees from holding or obtaining an 0-licence in any Traffic Area for three years.
As a result of those decisions. the application by SD Rees & Sons was withdrawn.
