ANDY JOHNSON who came third won The Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Company Trophy. A wristlet watch presented by Karrier Motors. A cheque for £150 from the National Finals Prize Fund. An inscribed Tankard and £15 Book Token presented by the United Road Transport Union.

And fourth placed CHRIS REILLY won: THE BSM Industrial Trophy. A cheque for £25 presented by the National Guild of Transport Managers. In addition each of the eight National Class Champions also received a £200 cheque from the National Finals Prize Fund, a £25 cheque presented by Conoco Ltd, an RTITB selflearning pack for the CPC presented jointly by the Chartered Institute of Transport, Institute of Road Transport Engineers and The Institute of Transport Administration, the Commercial Motor Diploma of Merit, and a gilt medallion presented by the CMLDoY Association.

Each class runner-up received a £100 cheque from the National Finals Prize Fund, a silver medallion presented by the CMLDoY Association, the AA Touring Guide to England presented by the AA and the RAC Great Britain Road Atlas presented by the RAC.

The third in each class received a £50 cheque from the National Finals Prize Fund, and a bronze medallion presented by the CMLDoY Association.

Each class winner's entrant received a desk-top model vehicle painted to their company's livery presented by DAF Trucks.

The 20 ancillary award winners also received a cheque for £20 from the National Finals Prize Fund of £4,000, which was donated in equal shares by Commercial Motor, Oaf Trucks (GB), Ford Motor Co, Iveco (UK), Leyland Trucks, Mercedes-Benz (UK), National Breakdown , Recovery Club, Sandbach Engineering, Perkins Engines, Rank Xerox, Road Haulage Association, Scania (GB), Seddon Atkinson, Texaco, Vauxhall Motors, Volvo Trucks (GB), and the Lorry Driver of the Year Association.

The young HGV winners received numerous awards and, finally, each of the 240 competitors in the finals were presented with a radiator badge by Commercial Motor, plus a lapel badge by the CMLDOY Association and Commercial Motor.
