Nissan takes wraps off new NV200 van
NISSAN IS launching an attack on the commercial vehicle market, starting at the bottom with its NV200 compact van.
The NV200 has been designed in-house with only the mechanicals and chassis borrowed from its alliance partner (Renault). It comes in two trim levels (E and SE) and configurations (panel van and combi people carrier).
Nissan corporate sales director GB Tony Lewis says: "The NV200 is a segment-breaker it will attract buyers in both the car-derived van and compact van segment.
"Running costs will be minimal, and we have 54 dedicated van centres, offering after-hours servicing to reduce downtime. Overall cost of ownership is key with the NV200." Climbing aboard the NV200, CM is impressed with the overall build quality and functionality of its interior. The dashboard, although made from hard plastic, is robust and will cope with the rigours of multi-drop and similar operations.
The NV200 has low ground clearance, and it's simple to climb in and out of. The low floor also brings load volume up to 4.2m3, which makes it 1.2m3 bigger than the Ford Transit Connect.
