In the current climate, this sort of truck wouldn't make sense. It is perceived as thirsty and expensive.
But every market has its exception. Desirability and the lack of numbers means the V8 is one of the few trucks in the market to increase in value. Given the current climate, it's quite an achievement.
The vehicle we tested is three years old and hasn't been fully utilised. There is no signs of abuse and no suggestion of imminent component failure.
Returning 10.25mpg on the motorway suggests this vehicle can long haul with the most frugal on the market, and through the messy, demanding A-road a sub-7 mpg figure belied an impressive pulling performance and consistency.
And it's these Latter areas that you have to focus on. If you have to run up and down the motorway network to tight time schedules, or tramp across the debilitating A-road network, you have to weigh up time with productivity.
Finally, if you do have the money, then the Scania V8 it's a truck that you won't ever tire of driving.
