Building sector shows no hint of improvement
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY contracted further in the second quarter of 2009, despite hope that extra work from public sector spending would boost the market. Total construction output fell 15% compared to Q2 2008.
The Construction Products Association says that private housing projects fell 27% year on year, although greater activity among house builders might yet feed through into output figures.
