• Thomas Hardie has set up a P.m second-hand truck centre in Middlewich, Cheshire.
"We've purchased seven acres of land formerly occupied by ERF's research and development workshops and offices, and we've got roo used trucks on display," says Graham Smith, managing director of the company's used vehicles operation. "We aim to sell 500 a year."
Volvos dominate the line-up, not surprisingly—"we're talking three to four-year-old tractors, mostly ex-contract"—but the site is also selling plenty of ex-fleet Mitsubishi Canters and dropsides. "We've been in Middlewich for six years but we had to expand because we were bursting at the seams," Smith explains.
The Middlewich site also boasts a six-bay workshop.
