• The RSPCA is about to meet Agriculture Secretary William Waldegrave to press for a shorter, pi:11)hour limit on animals being carried without Food or water.
• Although transport leasing company Tiphook lost 2331m last year: bonuses pushed founder and chief executive Robert Montague's salary up by 2250,000 to 21.34m.
• Up to 15 new drivers' jobs have been created by a TNT Express UK depot due to open on the Pork Royal estate in London next month. The depot will initially operate 30 van collection and delivery rounds.
• United Parcels Service has closed its Newcastle Airport depot, merging its international and domestic services from the region at its depot 25 miles away in SedgeField, County Durham.
