THE TRANSPORT and General Workers Union is heralding the day of action at DaimlerChrysler's Milton Keynes logistics centre as "very successful" after pickets stopped some deliveries into the warehouse (CM 18 August).
The action on 16 August was timed to coincide with the main deliveries of components from Germany; it followed a rejection of the company's three-year pay deal.
The T&G's John Street says: "All the men responded well and the picket line was very effective at preventing trucks going into the plant."
A DaimlerChrysler spokeswoman says:1n the circumstances it worked very well without any undue disruption.
"But we are still talking to the unions and can't say any more while negotiations are underway."
