Gloucester’s Manheim Auctions turned over £1.5m selling more than 460 trucks and vans
Words: Kevin Swallow
MANHEIM AUCTIONS in Gloucester sold 461 trucks and vans at a one-day sale last month that raised £1.5m, a record for the site.
More than 340 buyers, including 146 who logged on online via Simulcast, bid on rolling stock from sellers including Arval, Hitachi Capital, Inchcape Fleet, Lex Autolease and Northgate.
The successful sale follows the news that average wholesale used van values in July returned to levels similar to those in April and May, after a boost in June.
James Davis, Manheim Remarketing general manager, CVs, says: “Average values in July were down by 7.4% [£306] to £3,850, only £2 less than in April and £9 more than May.”
He adds: “With the forthcoming changes to the LEZ fuelling an artificial spike in demand until the end of the year, the underlying predicted wholesale van shortage will serve to drive used values higher against a backdrop of a slow recovery in new van registrations.” ■
