• Power is provided by 3.9-litre fourcylinder or 5.9-litre six-cylinder common-rail Paccar-branded engines developed by Cummins. They all meet Euro-3 and there's a choice of six power ratings. Transmission is via five-speed ZF S 5-42 or six-speed 2F 6 S 050 Ecolite units, or a nine-speed Eaton 6309 range-change box with single-H pattern, but fully automatic Allison S1000, 52000 and MD3060P boxes can also be specified.
McDonagh says the new engines will significantly improve fuel consumption which, he says, will be "around 5% better" than existing 45s and 55s. Engine noise is said to be down by some 3d9(A).
The engines are closely related to lveco's new Teeter design (they share engine blocks) having been developed under the Cummins/Iveco/New Holland joint venture known as the European Engine Alliance.
