AS A DRIVER! feel I'm treated by the enforcement agencies as a donkey despite doing a hard, dangerous, long job legally every day.Taxes etc are paid, but that's not enough. If lorries ran around the same way taxies do a fortune could be made. Some bean counter decided he didn't like lorries, lorry drivers or the 'big bucks' firms and drivers were making.
First came the EEC/EU, then open borders, the spy in the cab, tachos, drivers' hours, speed limiters, more rules and regulations and finally the 48-hour week.
Then you have Vosa. It's all about control and limiting earning potential.
I'm sick and tired of trying to do an honest day's work with reasonable, responsible behaviour and getting hammered for it.With all the problems of UK society, it seems strange truck drivers are singled out for persecution. Bring back the empire!
