• Sheffield-based industrial distributor RDB has ousted several small hauliers to win a nationwide contract from tool importer Sandvik.
Distribution is to industrial and retail outlets. RDB says Sandvik made the switch to a single distributor because it wants to move to a just-in-time system of stock replacement using RDB's 200-strong vehicle fleet.
Daily collections are made by RDB from Sandvik's warehouse in Halesowen, West Midlands. It plans to use RDB's Oldbury depot as a hub for its tools which are imported from Sweden.
