Scrubbing and sweeping
WITH THE latest floor scrubber sweeper from Tennant Maintenance Systems the PreSweep 432, there is no need to sweep the floor before cleaning. It is a new dual-purpose floor scrubbing-sweeping machine designed particularly for the special cleaning problems of the transport and distribution industry. The 432 uses its own scrubber brushes to pick up debris, and thus, say the manufacturers it minimises the risk of streaking which can occur when conventional scrubbers trap debris between the squeegee and floor.
The machine has a cleaning capacity of 2,740sqm (29,500sqft) per hour from its direct drive, 45hp brush motors, and cleaning efficiency in warehouses and dispatch areas is said to be greatly increased with a reduction in operator time by the one-pass action.
Productivity is also improved says Tennant's by its distinctive "Extended Scrubbing" (ES) option, which reuses the 120 litre (26.5 gallon) solution supply and allows the unit to clean for up to two and a half hours without refill. The self-tracking parabolic squeegee with automatic lift in reverse was designed for particularly easy and efficient operation.

Security with ratchet belts
EVERYONE knows the dreadful consequences which can result from a badly secured load. Not only are other road users at risk, but the vehicle and load itself can be seriously damaged.
Now a new ratchet belt for securing loads on lorries, cars and motorcycles is being marketed in the UK by the SAL Group of Companies.
The Easy Binder belt is sold in various lengths and thicknesses for industrial or leisure use, and SAL says it's a significant improvement on existing systems.
It is claimed to be simple to use with a ratchet system which loads as tightly as possible, and there is a simple release mechanism.
Manufactured by Rimeccano SA of Switzerland, the Easy Binder is said to be popular in several European countries.
There are three Easy Binders for light transportation and car racks, ranging in price from £3.90 to £6.20 plus vat; six designed for small pickups, marine, agricultural and longdistance transportation, ranging from £11.50 to £16.20 plus vat; and two Easy Binders for industrial transportation, heavy marine and heavy duty trucks priced at £22.50 and £28.75 plus vat.

An addition to its existing range of Dieselcare diesel engine service tools and equipment, the Dieselcare MT 102 has a similar function to a compression tester.
Several advantages are claimed for the MT102 over conventional testers. No specific compression figures are necessary, as the area of leakage can be identified. The engine does not need to be running or turned over on the battery.
In addition, the cylinder leakage tester incorporates a pressure regulator, 0-100 per cent leakage gauge, tamperproof calibrator, hoses with quick-fit connectors and 10-1214-18mm spark plug hole adaptors. Supplied as an integral unit in a plastic case, the MT 102 can be used to indicate defective intake valves, defective exhaust valves, defective pistons or rings, a defective head gasket or cracked engine block.
To adapt the MT 102 for use on diesel engines, a dummy injector clamp set has also been produced (KM 4018) for most engines fitted with clamp type injectors.

Trace the leak this way
FINDING minute leaks in cooling systems or stopping a leaking windscreen are often time consuming and difficult jobs. To speed things up, Comma Oil & Chemical Co. has introduced a low viscosity, high technology, multi-use sealant which finds cracks and capillaries through which water passes. Within hours, it becomes a permanent flexible seal.
Comma Seek 'n Seal, as it is called, is a solution which adheres and seals to glass, rubber, plastics, metal, glassfibre, wood, fabric, masonry, and so on without the need for clamps to hold it in place.
It is said to be most useful in sealing windscreens, window surrounds, sunshine and vinyl roofs, front and rear lights and panel gaps, but it also repels water from ignition systems and electrical fittings.

Colindale slashes equipment prices
PRICE REDUCTIONS of up to £1,000 have been announced by the Colindale Equipment Company on several items within its range of garage and transport equipment. Colindale says the reductions are the result of a substantial increase in volume sales achieved over the last twelve months enabling the company to negotiate more favourable terms with several of their European suppliers.
The largest reductions are on the HVZ and HVD range of heavy duty hoists, which offer lifting capacities from 16 tonnes (2 x 8 tonne) to 50 tonnes (3 x 16.5 tonne), with some prices now £1,000 less than in 1982. Prices in the range start at £5,832.
The AHS range of Roller Brake Testers, capable of dual directional testing and acceptable to the DTp for testing cars, light trucks, PSV and HGV vehicles up to 13 tonnes (12.8 ton) axle load, now start at £8,600.
