• Food and distribution group Unigate has confirmed its commitment to its truck sales outlets following planned investment of more than £7m in its subsidiary Arlington.
Unigate is sanctioning the investment in Arlington's truck centres in the belief it will benefit when the recession ends. It holds truck franchises for Leyland Daf, Mercedes, ERF, Foden and Renault. Re-development is planned or underway in five of Arlington's 12 centres.
Arlington truck operations director Chris Brown says: "Unigate supports our belief that the stronger groups who invest in people, premises and equipment now will emerge as an even more powerful force in the truck market when the recession ends."
