• Danish transport giant DFDS, with interests in haulage and shipping, has become the 28th company to take a 1%, £2,000 share in Combined Transport (CTL), the European road-to-rail venture backed by British Rail, the RHA and French and German hauliers.
The service was launched last autumn by then Transport Secretary Malcolm Rifkind.
Original shareholders include: NFC; TDG; Lep Swift; MO European Transport Services; Tibbett & Britten; United Transport; and Wincanton.
British Rail owns 10% of Combined Transport, with German-based Kombivekehr and the French consortium Novatrans holding 51%.
