• A bigger version of Southfields' curtain-sided intermodal swap-body with improved load access has been approved by German Railways for use on continental rail systems.
Until recently most intermodal swap bodies were tilt topped; curtainsiders offer comparable side access, are quicker to load and cheaper to maintain.
A lowered floor frame in the latest version gives the body internal dimensions of 7.02x2.48x2.44m high, providing higher side apertures with more door clearance than any comparable system on the market, says Southfields. It has twistlocks at the standard 20ft positions, lifting points for grappler-arm loading and fold-up legs for use with road vehicles.
