launched as a direct competitor to the Citroen Berlingo/Peugeot Partner and Renault Kangoo.
The Vanette E is smaller than the established Vanette Cargo but slightly bigger than the larger of the Citroen/Peugeot offerings with 3.8m3 of load volume and an 845kg payload (compared with 3.0m3 and 800kg from Citroen/Peugeot).
Uniquely in this class, the Vanette E offers a sliding side door on both sides as well as a rear hatchback door. It costs £9,995, which makes it a little more costly than the Berlingo, but it does come with a threeyear/60,000-mile warranty, as against two years' cover for the Berlingo.
The Vanette E uses the same 2.3-litre naturally aspirated diesel as the Vanette Cargo; it produces 74hp (55kW) and is produced on the same production line as the Cargo and Serena people carrier in Spain.
