UNITED 'TRAILERS (Wisbech) has gone into administration just eight months after its new boss said he wanted to give people their jobs back.
Lee Skinner bought the assets of what remained of United Trailers (UK) in October 2008 for £25,000 after it closed down and left creditors scrabbling for their money.
CAD drawings, intellectual property and computer hardware belonging to the 'UK' company were sold to Wordsworth Holdings for £50,000, with another £50,000 due if electronic versions of CAD drawings were made available within one month of the administration. Grant Thornton, which handled the administration of United Trailers (UK), says this was not possible. Administrators from London-based Harris Lipman were appointed on 11 June to sort out the finances of United Trailers (Wisbech).
Administrator Barry Lewis says: The business has now closed and the staff have been made redundant. "We're actively seeking a purchaser for the business, who will hopefully re-employ the staff, who are highly skilled in this specialised area. Offers have been tabled for the business and negotiations are ongoing."
A progress report from the administrators of United Trailers ( UK) shows that unsecured creditors are owed around £935,000, although this figure has yet to be agreed.
Skinner did not respond as CM went to press.
