RHA directory
A NEW directory of international door-to-door hauliers has just been published by the Road Haulage Association.
All the hauliers listed are members of the RHA's International Functional Group. Copies of the directory are available free from the RHA, Head Office, 22 Upper Woburn Place, London. WC1.
G. C. Alliston, chairman of the group, said: "The members of the group who are listed in this directory offer services which meet the highest standards of competence and efficiency, in this most complicated section of the transport industry."
'Turkish tax
BRITISH hauliers who have been charged a new higher rate of transit tax by Turkish border guards have been told to tell the British embassy in Ankara who will try to get the money back.
A statement from the Department of Transport announced that the arrangements under which Britain had negotiated cut rate taxation has been extended for six months.
The new arrangetrients mean that British operators will not need authorisations for the time being and they will be charged the old rate of 25 kurus per tonne kilometre.
Semi order
FERRYMASTERS has ordered 125 step-frame chassis van semi-trailers from the Tidd Strongbox company. They will be built to the laminate wall design and will run on three-axle bogies at 32 tons or higher on continental runs.
Safety first

The meeting will include a tour of the TRRL and lectures will be given by staff at the laboratory.
