PRODUCTION at Seddon Atkinson's Oldham plant was back to normal this week as shop stewards and union officials agreed to a return to work after a three week stoppage over a bonus dispute.
The 760-man return to work came after the union men had agreed to return to the company's disputes procedure at a meeting last week.
It is also thought that the men will withdraw part of their claim for a bonus scheme.
Under the pay code it was thought that the bonus scheme proposed by the men would be illegal.
But the situation at the company's other strike-bound plant at Preston is still one of deadlock. As the strike entered its fourth week the company spokesman saw no end in sight.
Resumption of work at the . Oldham plant means that some vehicles are now being produced, but there is no doubt that orders will fall behind schedule until the Preston dispute over sick pay and layoff schemes is resolved.
