MORE THAN 900 waste collection drivers arc being offered a 36% increase in hourly pay to protect earnings when the 48-hour working week is introduced next year.
Maurice Britton, the union leader who negotiated the rise with Biffa Waste Services, says the company also plans to recruit 100 extra drivers to cope with the Working Time Directive.
