• New regulations which will give full effect to the European rules governing the operation of international journeys by coach and minibus to and from the UK were made this week by the Minister for Transport Industries. The regulations have been laid before Parliament and will come into force on July 1.
The rules apply to all vehicles adapted to carry nine or more passengers no matter how few passengers are actually being carried. This will mean that a journey control document will need to be carried on these vehicles throughout a journey whether the journey is privately or commercially organized.
The new documents will be issued by the DoE and the type of document to be used will depend on the type of journey being undertaken. An exploratory leaflet giving details of the new document will be issued shortly by the DoE and will be available from traffic area offices free of charge.
