An oil, formulated to overcome the problem of carbon build-up and reduce the risk of explosions and fires in reciprocating air compressor units has been developed by Esso.
The synthetic hydrocarbontype oil designated S53, eliminates carbon deposits on discharge valves, vibration dampers, after-coolers, discharge pipework and air receivers at outlet temperatures up to 170deg C, says the company.
