• Plans to dump two million tonnes of waste at a former colliery spoil tip near Doncaster have been delayed following protests about increased traffic from tippers. Onyx Total Waste Management says 65 vehicles a day would enter and leave the site at Carcroft.
A decision on the company's planning application has been deferred by Doncaster councillors until early June after nearly 5,000 people objected.
A spokeswoman for Onyx, which runs eight landfill sites nationally, says only non-hazardous household waste would be dumped at the site which is close to homes and a school.
