• Specialist haulier John Shephard has taken delivery of its first purpose-built boat trailer from Dennison Trailers.
The centre of the dropframe low-deck trailer is kept as tree as possible to accommodate the keels of the fishing boats and pleasure craft that Shephard shifts around the UK and Europe.
Chassis cross-members sit beneath side rails with pipework and valves hidden inside the frame. The triaxle semi has an overall length of 13.3m but can be extended by 2.6m. Dennison used specially cranked Mentor ACMX eighttonne axles to allow the maximum drop and fitted air suspension and 2.15/7R 17.5in tyres to minimise ride height.
Previous boat trailers for Shephard have been adapted from a 1972 Peak and an Overiander.
