replacements in the event of railway closures were heard by the Scottish Traffic Commissioners in Aberdeen iast week.
Simpson's Motors, Rosehearty, proposed to replace 12 trains daily in each direction between Fraserburgh and St. Combs by 19 bus journeys, with the majority of the buses calling at Inverallochy and Cairnbulg.
W. Alexander and Sons (Northern) Ltd. proposed to operate 12 services daily each way between the towns direct. cutting out Inverallochy and Cairnbulg.
In giving the Commissioners' decision to grant the application of Simpson's. Mr. A. B. Birnie said that although Alexander's more direct service would save time, it would he gained only by sacrifice of Inverallochy and Cairnbulg. From that point of view, he said, Simpson's service was preferred: also, the company was already the existing operator on the route.
