• Dieter Merz, the head of Renault Truck Industries, has resigned after 18 months, to join Scania (GB) as its managing director at the beginning of next year.
Merz was managing director of Saab France from 1982 to 1988. He then moved to Sweden as marketing director for the Saab Car Division where he stayed for a year, before joining RTI.
He will replace Anders Astrom, who will become vicepresident marketing for Europe and North America, when his predecessor Carl-Axel Carlson, retires at the beginning of November 1991, after more than 35 years with Scania.
Astrom will leave Scania (GB) on 30 June 1991; although Merz will join Scalia on 1 January, he will not take up his UK position until the beginning of July.
Bernard Momin, currently managing director of RVI Belgium, will take over from Merz as managing director of Renault Truck Industries.
El Elias Pascual will replace Ralph Reins as top man at Mack, from 1 November.
