• Sales of light commercial vehicles are holding up well because of the large number of one-man businesses, says Paul Manton, managing director of Dingwall Motor Auctions, in Croydon, Surrey.
Manton, who is also chairman of the Society of Motor Auctions, says many skilled people who have been made redundant in the past few years, such as plumbers and heating engineers, have set up on their own.
"Consequently there is a tremendous demand for Ford Transits and Maestro City vans. We have contracts with British Telecom and British Gas as well as the Post Office and British Rail, so we have a good supply of vehicles which represent good value for money."
Sales are held every Friday at 18:00hrs.
