Used values of Scania 4 Series, Volvo FH and Mercedes-Benz Actros tractors have all been firming up recently says George Alexander, commercial vehicles editor at Glass's Guide.
"The FH has gone from under-performing to doing all that it should be doing, and the Actros has got through the worst of the pain it's been suffering," he reports. 'I'm not approaching lt with a feeling of doom and gloom."
Renault's Premium tractor has slipped back a little, he adds, but Daf s 85CF tractor continues to attract plenty of interest, as does the 95XF: "You see one at auction about once every six months and it makes a mountain of money."
However, Alexander stresses that he's talking about tractors up to four years old—the situation with older vehicles is rather different.
The international crisis has yet to have an impact on the used market, he adds: "The economy is still doing OK so far as high-street retail sales are concerned, and the prices being realised at truck auctions are very healthy. We should be careful not to talk down a strong market."
