• Members and guests ot the Institute of Road Transport Engineers attended an "at home". following the council meeting on Thursday of last week.
At the meeting the president, Mr G. E. Liardet made reference to the 24th annual report which will be presented at the agm on October 15. It describes the growth in both membership and numbers of centres as -satisfactory". There are 33 centres in the UK and seven centres overseas.
Membership of the Institute now stands at 5712, an increase of 1100 since last year.
Mr L. J. Oldridge has been recognized by the IRTE for his paper "Traffic law and the road transport engineerwhich has been presented at a number of centres during the year. Mr J. A. Burrows and Mr A. E. Collier received presentations in recognition of many years of service to the council.
Bullens in North West
• Bullens Transport Group, has extended its chain of depots to give more extensive coverage of the industrial areas of northern England.
Complementing depots at Hull and Hinckley, the homes respectively of Bullens North East and Bullens Midlands, the Group has brought into action another depot at Haydock in Lancashire. This will be the home of Bullens North West, and consists
of acres,acres, with 20,000 sq ft of warehousing and office space and a vehicle park of 35,000 sq ft.
• In a description of the Duranun Duravan in CM on September 11 the reference to the core of the composite panels stated that this was foamed polystyrene; this should have been polyurethane. Also, the cross-hearers for the floor are in high-yield steel, not alloy.
